Senior Auto Electrician (Road Haulage)

About the role

White Horse Carriers, a road haulage company based in South Africa and part of the MSC Group, is looking for a Senior Auto Electrician to join its Brentwood workshop in Johannesburg. The postholder diagnoses, repairs and maintains the electrical systems of a large fleet of trucks and trailers, leads assistant electricians and keeps work to a high standard in line with workshop SOPs. The contract is fixed term.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose complex electrical and electronic faults in Zalawi trucks and trailers using advanced diagnostic tools
• Repair electrical components such as wiring, lighting, batteries, alternators, starters and electronic control units
• Carry out routine maintenance to prevent failures and comply with safety standards
• Inspect and maintain trailer electrical systems, including braking systems, signal lights and load-monitoring equipment
• Assign tasks to assistant electricians, give clear instructions and make sure work meets workshop SOPs
• Document all work, parts used and service records for fleet maintenance tracking
• Mentor junior electricians, collaborate with the workshop team and keep the workflow efficient
• Follow jobcard processes and stores/parts handling procedures, and report to the Deputy Technical Manager
