Senior Associate – Banking & Finance Attorney (Bilateral & Syndicated Lending)

About the role

AGC Recruitment is seeking a Senior Associate to join a specialist global banking legal team based in Cape Town (hybrid). The role focuses on high‑volume, high‑value bilateral and syndicated lending transactions for international banking clients.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and amend commercial lending documentation, including facility letters, loan agreements, security documents, corporate approvals and board resolutions.
• Work with LMA‑style finance documentation and structured lending templates.
• Manage document workflows from initial draft through execution, ensuring version control and integrity.
• Handle legal queries independently, assess risk, identify inconsistencies and commercial issues, and escalate when necessary.
• Apply consistent legal standards across templates, playbooks and governance frameworks.
• Collaborate with legal, credit, compliance, tax, business and control functions as well as external counsel.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years post‑admission experience in banking & finance commercial lending.
• Proven track record drafting, reviewing and negotiating bilateral and syndicated loan documentation.
• Strong commercial mindset and ability to work in a fast‑paced transactional environment.
