Senior Accounts Clerk

About the role

The Senior Accounts Clerk will manage both debtor and creditor functions, ensuring accurate financial records and timely processing of transactions. This role supports month‑end, year‑end and management reporting activities within a dynamic accounting team.

Key responsibilities

• Control debtor accounts on Sage Pastel, capture invoices, allocate payments and follow up overdue balances.
• Process creditor invoices, reconcile suppliers, prepare payment schedules and execute EFT payments.
• Maintain daily cashbook, perform bank reconciliations, manage petty cash and monitor cash‑flow movements.
• Prepare journal entries, support month‑end and year‑end closing, and produce balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reports, budgets and variance analysis.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with a relevant accounting or bookkeeping qualification (advantageous).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting environment, covering debtors, creditors and reconciliations.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience preparing management accounts.
