Senior Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an analytical, detail‑driven Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Pretoria. In this role you will own core accounting operations, ensure financial integrity and support month‑end, year‑end and compliance processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full month‑end close, prepare journals, accruals and pre‑payments, and produce monthly financial statements.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable, approve payment runs and monitor debtor/creditor balances.
• Maintain the general ledger, perform reconciliations and uphold strong internal controls.
• Prepare statutory reports, support external audits and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis to provide financial insight for decision‑making.
• Identify and implement process improvements and contribute to finance system enhancements.
• Collaborate with operations, HR and senior management, delivering clear financial explanations to non‑financial stakeholders.

Required profile

• BCom Accounting degree with completed SAIPA or SAICA articles.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a senior accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, statutory compliance and audit support.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end close and maintain accurate ledger records.
• Excellent analytical skills and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
