Senior Accountant – Cape Town

About the role

We are building a dedicated South African core team for an expanding international public accounting firm. As a Senior Accountant you will own the full accounting cycle for a portfolio of SME clients, delivering accurate financial reporting and high‑touch advisory.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and deliver month‑end financial statements and reports within strict deadlines.
• Manage the complete accounting cycle, including bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
• Process international payroll, handle tax deposits, accrual adjustments and regulatory documentation.
• Oversee accounts payable, bill payments, statement reviews and dispute resolution.
• Maintain subsidiary records for fixed assets, loan balances and other key accounts.
• Prepare and file sales tax and personal property tax returns, managing related correspondence.
• Serve as the primary financial contact for assigned clients, leading video meetings and providing transactional advice.
• Collaborate with internal tax teams, client advisors and management to ensure service standards.

Required profile

• Qualified Professional Accountant (SA) or AGA (SA) with 6‑10 years of accounting experience, preferably in public practice.
• Proven ability to manage the full accounting cycle for multiple clients simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of international tax principles or ability to quickly learn new regulatory frameworks.
