Senior Accountant – Cape Town

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Cape Town Head Office, responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger activities and perform account reconciliations.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end closing processes, including journal entries.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP, tax regulations and internal controls.
• Support external and internal audits by providing documentation and explanations.
• Analyse financial data and present insights to management.
• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll reconciliations as needed.
• Submit statutory returns and regulatory reports on time.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA or SAIPA is advantageous.
• 5‑7 years of accounting experience, preferably in a senior role.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Sage).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and financial modelling.
• Proficiency in accounting software.
• Audit and tax compliance knowledge.
