Security Officer

About the role

The Group is seeking a Security Officer to join the security team at the Gauteng Knights site in Germiston. Reporting to the Security Manager, the officer will safeguard SA Metal’s premises, assets, and people while ensuring compliance with all company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Control access and egress at all SA Metal properties, complete registers and operate gates.
• Search pedestrians, vehicles and personal belongings of anyone exiting the premises.
• Issue and collect PPE for customers and visitors entering the yard.
• Verify documentation for items leaving the site.
• Conduct breath‑alyzer tests and other access checks as required.
• Patrol assigned areas at regular intervals and report suspicious activity.
• Maintain the Incident Report Book and ensure containers/bins are booked in and out securely.
• Protect SA Metal’s property, assets and all persons on the premises.
• Perform ad‑hoc tasks as directed by management.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• PSIRA registration (Grade C).
• 2–3 years of relevant security experience.
• Hard‑working, self‑motivated and professional attitude.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours and provide good customer service.
