Security Guard – Retail (Polokwane)

About the role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Polokwane is seeking a professional Security Guard to protect its assets, staff and customers. The role involves maintaining a safe environment, monitoring premises and responding to incidents in line with the Private Security Industry Regulations Act.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular random patrols of the store and surrounding areas to deter criminal activity.
• Control and document access for vehicles and pedestrians, allowing entry only to authorised individuals.
• Investigate and report signs of damage, unlawful entry or suspicious behaviour to management.
• Maintain visibility as a deterrent, provide courteous assistance to guests, customers and employees.
• Perform searches of staff, suppliers and merchandise, and complete all required registers and occurrence books.
• Monitor alarm systems, CCTV and emergency equipment, and liaise with police or emergency services when required.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, ensuring doors, windows and water taps are secured.
• Provide security advice, safety warnings and support during evacuations or crisis situations.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent senior certificate.
• Grade C PSIRA accreditation and registration.
• Minimum three years experience in retail security (shopping malls, warehouses) with at least one year in a similar role preferred.
• South African citizen, clear criminal and credit record, valid driver’s licence and reliable transport.
