Sand Blaster – Petrochemical Projects (South Africa & Namibia)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sand Blaster to support petrochemical projects across South Africa and Namibia. You will prepare metal surfaces on fuel tanks, pipelines and steel structures for coating, ensuring compliance with project specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform abrasive blasting on steel surfaces to achieve required surface profiles (e.g., SA 2.5) and cleanliness.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot blasting equipment, including hoses, nozzles and compressors.
• Mix and load abrasive materials, mask protected areas and manage waste.
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental regulations; wear appropriate PPE and follow Permit‑to‑Work procedures.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections, report defects and keep accurate logs of work and material usage.
• Coordinate with painters, supervisors and other trades to align surface preparation with coating schedules.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate) with formal sandblasting certification or recognised training.
• Valid Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry certificates and driver’s licence.
• 2‑5 years of blasting experience in petrochemical, industrial or heavy‑engineering environments.
• Familiarity with Permit‑to‑Work systems and hazardous‑area procedures.
