Sales Engineer - Industrial Automation

About the role

We are seeking a results‑driven Sales Engineer to join our Industrial Automation team in Cape Town. This role offers the opportunity to work with leading automation brands to deliver tailored solutions across a diverse industrial client base.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Identify and develop new sales opportunities.
• Respond to customer inquiries, including technical queries.
• Present technical products and solutions clearly and confidently.
• Achieve sales targets and contribute to business growth.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge of automation products and applications.
• Maintain accurate CRM data and provide market feedback.
• Attend networking events and industry trade shows.

Required profile

• Engineering or Electrical qualification is advantageous; a valid driver’s license and own transport are required.
• 2–5 years of technical sales experience with a strong knowledge of industrial automation components such as PLCs, switchgear, VSDs, safety systems, sensors (IO‑Link), vision systems, and cabling.
• Proven track record of matching products to client needs and achieving sales targets.
• Established network in the Western Cape/Cape Town region.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven with a strong sense of urgency and a customer‑first mindset.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.

Required skills

• PLCs and programmable logic controllers.
• Switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Variable speed drives (VSDs).
• Safety systems and compliance solutions.
• IO‑Link sensors and other industrial sensors.
• Vision systems for quality inspection.
• Cabling and industrial wiring solutions.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with NetSuite ERP (advantageous).
