Room Attendant – Fixed-Term Contract

About the role

The Room Attendant is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in chalets and guest areas within South African National Parks. This fixed‑term position involves daily housekeeping tasks, inventory control and interaction with guests to ensure a pleasant stay.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cleaning duties in chalets and guest facilities, including bed linen changes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, furniture polishing and waste removal.
• Clean public areas such as reception, restrooms and walkways, and report any damages or spillages.
• Monitor and replenish inventory of guest amenities, linen and cleaning supplies.
• Report maintenance issues promptly and adhere to standard operating procedures.
• Handle lost‑and‑found items according to procedures and assist with basic laundry tasks.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) or NCV level 4 equivalent.
• 1–2 years practical experience in public cleaning or tourism environments.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and varying shifts.

Required skills

• Safe and effective use of cleaning tools and equipment.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
• First Aid knowledge (advantage).
