Risk and Compliance Specialist

About the role

The successful candidate will support the Group’s enterprise risk management (ERM) and compliance oversight across South African, Namibian and US operations. The role drives risk assessments, monitors legislative changes and promotes a culture of compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the annual review and update of ERM and compliance policies and ensure consistent application.
• Facilitate divisional risk assessments, maintain risk registers, track mitigation actions and prepare risk reporting for governance forums.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess implications, and coordinate compliance action plans.
• Lead the Compliance Forum, develop annual compliance training, and compile quarterly Risk and Compliance Board reports.
• Maintain and update the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) standards and manage scenario planning.

Required profile

• A bachelor’s degree in risk management, law, commerce, internal auditing or a related field.
• 3–5 years’ experience in enterprise risk management or regulatory compliance, preferably in a JSE‑listed organisation.
• Strong analytical ability, excellent stakeholder engagement and board‑level communication skills.
• Post‑graduate qualification or professional certification in risk/compliance (e.g., IRMSA) is advantageous.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of a GRC or enterprise risk management system/tool for risk register maintenance.
• Ability to apply structured frameworks such as PESTLE analysis.
• Understanding of the three‑lines‑of‑defence model and combined assurance principles.
