Risk and Compliance Internship (12‑Month)

About the role

This 12‑month internship is placed within the Risk and Compliance team of OUTsurance, a leading South African financial services provider. The role offers hands‑on experience in monitoring regulatory adherence and managing compliance risks across Southern Africa operations. It is ideal for graduates with a legal or auditing background who want to start a career in a values‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring compliance risks and assessing adherence across multiple business units.
• Support the identification, mitigation, and reporting of regulatory and compliance risks.
• Help execute the compliance monitoring plan, ensuring scheduled activities are documented.
• Record instances of non‑compliance and follow up on recommended corrective actions.
• Engage with internal stakeholders and collaborate with Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Quality Assurance to avoid duplicated effort.
• Provide detailed analysis of proposed and existing legislation and support drafting inputs for regulatory proposals.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in Law (Legal) or Auditing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities and a collaborative team mindset.
• High attention to detail, integrity and ability to work under pressure.
• South African citizenship, aged 18‑35, and eligible for INSETA internship criteria.
