Retail Branch Manager – Richards Bay

About the role

Sanlam Developing Markets (SDM) is a leading financial services provider in South Africa, offering affordable solutions such as funeral insurance, education savings, life cover and personal accident plans. As the Retail Branch Manager in Richards Bay, you will lead the branch to grow its customer base and revenue while ensuring an excellent client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the retail branch strategy to drive sales and service delivery.
• Guide, integrate and standardise the activities of Sales Consultants in line with the branch strategy.
• Maintain day‑to‑day operations, including compliance, quality and risk management.
• Lead people practices with HR – talent management, performance reviews, development, grievance handling and capacity planning.
• Plan and report monthly sales and service performance.
• Identify and engage key internal and external stakeholders to build strong relationships.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) with RE1 and RE5, plus 120 Wealth Management credits or a tertiary qualification recognised by the FSCA.
• Minimum 5 years recent industry experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role, with service management, insurance sales, and credit/lending experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of sales tactics, stakeholder engagement and customer service.
• Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks, Sanlam insurance products and business acumen.
• Proficiency in data analytics and visualisation, project management and critical thinking.
