Retail Area Relief Officer

About the role

As a Retail Area Relief Officer you will protect customers, staff and stock across multiple retail sites. The role is mobile and requires flexibility to cover varied shifts, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays. You will act as a visible deterrent to crime, provide excellent customer service and respond swiftly to incidents.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a strong, visible security presence to deter theft and anti‑social behaviour.
• Conduct regular patrols of store premises and monitor CCTV and other security systems.
• Carry out searches in line with company policy and legal guidelines.
• Respond promptly to alarms, incidents and emergencies, escalating when necessary.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Collaborate with store teams on loss‑prevention and security concerns.
• Assist customers and staff with directions, queries and general support.
• De‑escalate confrontational situations calmly and professionally.

Required profile

• Right to work in the UK.
• Valid SIA licence – Door Supervisor (DS) or Security Guarding.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proactive, reliable and professional approach to safety and service.
• Willingness to travel between multiple sites and work varied shifts.
