Registered Nurse – Trauma Experienced

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with proven trauma and ICU experience to join the Trauma Unit at Life Groenkloof Hospital in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high‑quality patient care in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform nursing duties assigned by the Unit Manager while adhering to legal and regulatory standards.
• Provide compassionate patient care and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Uphold Health, Safety and Infection Control standards throughout the unit.
• Collaborate with doctors, therapists and other professionals to facilitate optimal patient outcomes.
• Assist in budget management, equipment maintenance, pharmacy stock control and monitoring of financial metrics such as gross profit margins and debtor days.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of the Ward Management System and Clinical Bedside Technology (CBT).

Required profile

• General Nursing Degree or Diploma, registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum experience working in a Trauma or ICU setting.
• Strong ability to work under pressure, excellent interpersonal skills and a customer‑focused attitude.
• Willingness to work flexible hours as required by the ward’s flexi‑hours system.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ward Management System.
• Experience using Clinical Bedside Technology (CBT).
• Competence in trauma and intensive‑care nursing procedures.
