Registered Nurse – Theatre Qualified (Cathlab)

About the role

The Life The Glynnwood hospital is seeking a qualified Registered Nurse to work in the theatre/cathlab environment. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the nurse will support surgical teams and ensure high‑quality patient care throughout pre‑operative, intra‑operative and post‑operative phases.

Key responsibilities

• Assist surgeons and anaesthetists during procedures and ensure patient comfort.
• Accurately record theatre clocking time and manage charging for financial control.
• Maintain and control consignment stock, equipment and prostheses according to hospital policy.
• Educate and supervise staff on correct use of theatre equipment and instrumentation.
• Gather pre‑operative information and conduct post‑operative patient visits.
• Provide theatre‑specific training, assess staff competence and monitor normal/overtime hours.
• Ensure compliance with personal protective equipment, ISO standards and proper medical waste disposal.
• Participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings to resolve issues.

Required profile

• General Nursing Degree or Diploma, registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Relevant experience in a cathlab or operating theatre setting.
• Diploma in a relevant speciality is an advantage.
• Understanding of the private healthcare environment.
• Computer proficiency is desirable.
