Registered Nurse – Medical Ward 1

About the role

The Registered Nurse will deliver safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care in Medical Ward 1 of Daxina Private Hospital, following all hospital standards and policies. The role involves direct and indirect nursing care, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care to meet individual patient needs.

Key responsibilities

• Practice patient care according to the Scope of Practice and assume total responsibility for these activities.
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients and promote their health and wellbeing.
• Attend handover at shift commencement and provide detailed handover to the ward sister.
• Recognise life‑threatening situations and respond promptly.
• Communicate effectively with patients regarding their care.
• Audit health records to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Control and manage stock, ensuring accurate charging and crediting.
• Maintain good public relations with patients, relatives and visitors.

Required profile

• Registered with the South African Nursing Council (or equivalent NQF 7 qualification).
• Matriculation qualification.
• Compulsory Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours.
• Ability to implement and maintain health practice standards and relevant legislation.
