Registered Nurse – ICU (2 positions)

About the role

Life Anncron Hospital is seeking two experienced Registered Nurses to work in its Critical Care Unit. The role involves delivering holistic, high‑quality nursing care to critically ill patients, supporting positive outcomes and aligning with the hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic and specialised nursing care to ICU patients.
• Communicate continuously with patients and families about condition.
• Administer medication in line with ethical and legal standards.
• Follow internal policies, protocols and quality management systems.
• Advocate for patients, coordinate with case management and notify doctors of concerns.
• Supervise and mentor multidisciplinary team members, ensuring appropriate skill mix.
• Manage stock, staff hours and leave according to unit policies.
• Uphold infection control and health‑and‑safety standards, reporting incidents as required.
• Ensure equipment is functional, report faults and train staff on proper use.
• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with legal requirements.

Required profile

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Experience in Cardiac ICU is an advantage.
• Ability to work day and night shifts.
• Understanding of the private healthcare environment.
• Proficiency with computers.
• Inquisitive, vibrant personality suited to a fast‑paced setting.
