Registered Nurse – Emergency Unit (Hospital Group)

About the role

The Registered Nurse will deliver safe, cost‑effective, high‑quality patient care in the Emergency Unit of a hospital group. You will be responsible for direct and indirect nursing care, from assessment and planning to execution and supervision, ensuring each patient’s needs are met.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient care in line with the Scope of Practice and assume full responsibility for nursing activities.
• Contribute to holistic patient care and promote health and wellbeing.
• Attend shift handover and communicate clearly with patients about their care.
• Audit health records for compliance and maintain accurate documentation.
• Manage stock, ensuring proper charging, crediting, and control of supplies.
• Maintain positive public relations with patients, relatives, and visitors.

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse (or equivalent NQF 7 qualification).
• At least 2 years of experience in Trauma & Emergency nursing.
• Previous work in an emergency environment is essential.
• Advanced computer literacy.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts and hours.
• Ability to implement and uphold health practice standards and relevant legislation.
