Registered Nurse / Clinical Technologist – Dialysis

About the role

We are looking for a qualified Registered Nurse or Clinical Technologist to provide safe, effective and compassionate dialysis care at our clinic in Port Alfred, Eastern Cape. The role involves preparing and monitoring patients undergoing haemodialysis, haemodiafiltration and peritoneal dialysis.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, and monitor vital signs and dialysis parameters.
• Educate patients and families on renal conditions, treatment options and self‑care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals, adhering to infection prevention and control standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the clinic.

Required profile

• National Senior Certificate (Matric).
• Registered Nurse or Clinical Technologist qualification.
• Current registration with SANC/HPCSA and a valid practising licence.
• Previous experience in nephrology or dialysis nursing is highly beneficial; acute renal care experience is an advantage.
• Competence in electronic medical records and basic computer literacy.

Required skills

• Clinical skills in renal nursing, including dialysis treatment preparation, patient assessment and ongoing monitoring.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and control, medication administration and emergency response in a dialysis setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
