Registered Nurse – Anaesthetic & Recovery (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

Join Netcare Pretoria East Hospital as a Registered Nurse in the Anaesthetic and Recovery Department. You will provide high‑quality, patient‑centred care during the anaesthetic phase and the immediate post‑operative period, working closely with anaesthetists, surgeons and the wider peri‑operative team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and check anaesthetic and emergency resuscitation equipment.
• Assist the anaesthetist during induction, maintenance and emergence from anaesthesia.
• Monitor patients' vital signs, airway and overall condition throughout procedures.
• Maintain accurate anaesthetic documentation and records.
• Provide immediate post‑operative care, managing airway, pain, nausea and any complications.
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team and provide discharge education to patients and families.

Required profile

• Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• 1–2 years of peri‑operative nursing experience, preferably in anaesthetics or recovery.
• BLS and ALS certification.
• Strong knowledge of anaesthetic and emergency procedures.
• Excellent communication, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Desirable: postgraduate qualification in peri‑operative nursing and familiarity with electronic medical records.
