Registered Nurse 2IC – Paediatric Ward

About the role

A vacancy has arisen for a Registered Nurse 2IC in the Paediatric Ward at Life Wilgers Hospital in Pretoria. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the successful candidate will help ensure the unit runs efficiently and that patients receive high‑quality nursing care.

Key responsibilities

• Perform duties assigned by the Unit Manager and ensure compliance with legal standards.
• Maintain excellent patient and customer care in line with Life Healthcare standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Build professional relationships with doctors and therapists to promote patient‑doctor interaction.
• Uphold health, safety and infection‑control standards.
• Assist the Unit Manager with budget management, equipment maintenance, pharmacy stock, and financial controls.
• Support the effective management of the Ward Management System.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse, registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
• Minimum three years’ experience in a paediatric environment and experience as a midwife.
• Strong customer orientation, energetic, well‑organized and able to work under pressure.
• Proven leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work flexible day and night shifts.
