Regional Head – Witness Protection

About the role

The Regional Head will lead the witness protection programme in Limpopo, providing strategic and operational support to ensure the safety of protected witnesses. This senior management role reports to national headquarters and requires extensive experience in law‑enforcement environments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate provincial operation and strategic support for the witness protection programme.
• Oversee assessment and admission processes for witnesses entering the programme.
• Administer all operational processes of the Office for Witness Protection (OWP).
• Maintain and develop stakeholder relationships across government and law‑enforcement agencies.
• Perform generic senior management functions, including planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.

Required profile

• National Qualification Framework (NQF) Level 7 degree in Law, International Relations, Military, Police, Political Science or equivalent recognised by SAQA.
• Nyukela Certificate (Senior Management Service entry qualification).
• Minimum five (5) years’ middle‑management experience in a law‑enforcement or criminal‑justice environment.
• Demonstrated competency to act independently, professionally, accountably and with credibility.
• High‑level knowledge of the Witness Protection Act, the Constitution, the Public Service Act and related security standards.
• Proficiency in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
• Strong communication, planning, organisational and financial management skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to undergo security clearance.
