Reach Stacker Operator

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Reach Stacker Operator to join our logistics team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will handle containers and heavy cargo safely and efficiently within terminals, warehouses, or ports.

Key responsibilities

• Load, unload and transport containers or heavy goods, ensuring proper placement and stability.
• Operate the reach stacker – controlling boom extension, luffing, spreader movements and stacking containers at various heights.
• Perform daily pre‑start and post‑shift equipment inspections, checking brakes, stabilisation systems and load devices.
• Record movements and conduct inventory checks using the warehouse management system or manual logs.
• Carry out routine cleaning, minor maintenance and report any equipment faults or safety hazards.
• Collaborate with team members to coordinate timely movement of goods and maintain clear communication.
• Execute order‑pulling, staging, replenishment, and loading/unloading of trucks with proper weight distribution.
• Respond promptly to equipment alarms and complete maintenance records after each operation.

Required profile

• Experience operating a reach stacker or similar heavy‑equipment in a logistics environment.
• Ability to conduct thorough equipment inspections and follow safety regulations (OSHA or equivalent).
• Attention to detail for accurate inventory documentation and cargo handling.
• Team‑oriented attitude with effective communication skills.
