R&D Laboratory & Administrative Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a motivated and organised R&D Laboratory & Administrative Assistant to support our R&D Chemist and coordinate laboratory, production and administrative activities in Cape Town.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the R&D Chemist with laboratory trials, testing and product development activities.
• Prepare samples, materials and equipment for laboratory tests and trials.
• Conduct routine testing and record test results.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, documentation and sample storage.
• Keep the laboratory environment clean, organised and safe.
• Track R&D projects, samples and trial progress.
• Book and process work orders, and support production documentation.
• Capture and maintain records in company systems.
• Liaise with Production, Stores, Procurement and other departments to ensure smooth material flow.
• Support raw material purchase administration, stock transfers and inventory tracking.
• Provide day‑to‑day administrative assistance such as scheduling, filing, correspondence and report preparation.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Hands‑on attitude and comfort working in a technical laboratory environment.
• Ability to work closely with R&D, production, procurement and store teams.
• Attention to detail for accurate record‑keeping and documentation.
• Good communication skills for internal coordination.
