RAMS / Reliability Engineer – Rolling Stock

About the role
We are seeking a RAMS / Reliability Engineer to support rolling stock projects, delivering Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) activities across the full project lifecycle. The role focuses on optimizing system performance while balancing lifecycle cost, operational efficiency, safety requirements and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Define and deploy RAMS activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop RAMS plans, predictions, monitoring plans, and test plans with associated reports.
- Provide Design‑for‑Reliability (DfR) and Design‑for‑Maintainability (DfM) recommendations and validate system architecture against MTBF, MTTR and availability targets.
- Perform and manage analyses such as FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD).
- Model maintainability and availability, define and monitor RAMS KPIs.
- Specify, plan and oversee reliability and maintainability testing, including Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Analyse field failure data, support reliability growth management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to safety activities in line with EN 50126, EN 50128 and EN 50129, supporting hazard identification and safety case documentation.
Required profile
- Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems or equivalent).
- Proven experience in RAMS / Reliability Engineering.
- Preferably experience in the rolling stock or rail industry.
- Knowledge of traction systems, braking systems, doors, HVAC and onboard systems.
- Experience in maintenance or integrated logistics environments.

- RAMS methodology and reliability engineering.
- FMECA (Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis).

- MTBF and MTTR calculations.
