Quantity Surveyor – Johannesburg

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will manage the commercial and financial aspects of multiple industrial and commercial projects from the early design stage through to final account.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare cost plans, estimates and feasibility reports during project planning and design.
• Compile and administer Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documents and contract paperwork.
• Monitor project budgets, track expenditures and implement cost‑control measures throughout construction.
• Carry out accurate quantity take‑offs and measurements for building works.
• Assess contractor claims, variations, issue payment certificates and prepare final accounts.
• Identify commercial risks and apply cost‑management strategies.
• Support procurement activities and negotiate with suppliers.
• Produce detailed cost reports and financial data to support project funding.
• Conduct regular site visits, attend project meetings and maintain commercial records.

Required profile

• BSc Degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Relevant post‑qualification experience in commercial and industrial construction.
• Strong background in cost estimation, budgeting and contract administration.
• Ability to work independently while handling multiple projects.
• Excellent planning, organisational and communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with Emwin (EJM) software (advantageous).
