Quality Control Officer – Food Manufacturing

About the role

The Quality Control Officer will ensure that quality and food safety standards are consistently met in the Cape Town facility, adhering to FSSC 22000, YUM, McDonalds and Nandos criteria.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain quality and food safety in the facility according to FSSC 22000, YUM, McDonalds and Nandos criteria.
• Manage Quality Controllers and oversee their daily activities.
• Conduct plant and facility inspections, review records and corrective actions, and update quality reports and trends.
• Plan and lead HACCP team meetings, HACCP plan reviews and internal audits, and compile action plans for external audits.
• Ensure timely closure of customer complaints, manage mock recalls bi‑annually, and maintain equipment calibration schedules.

Required profile

• Fluent in English and at least one other official South African language.
• Commercially sound, deadline‑driven, with strong attention to detail.
• Hardworking, honest, self‑motivated, disciplined and able to work under extreme pressure.
• Passionate about continuous workplace improvement programmes (20 Keys).
• Possess a Code 08 driver’s licence and reliable transport.

Required skills

• Knowledge of FSSC 22000, GMP requirements and related quality management systems.
• Statistical process control expertise.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• HACCP planning, team coordination and audit execution.
• Calibration of equipment and mock‑recall procedures.
