Quality Assurance Manager

About the role

Liberty is seeking a senior Quality Assurance Manager to lead the QA function for its underwriting operations in Johannesburg. The role is responsible for safeguarding the quality, consistency and regulatory compliance of underwriting decisions across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement underwriting standards, guidelines and a comprehensive quality‑assessment framework.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory changes and emerging risks to keep the underwriting strategy current.
• Define and embed the company’s risk‑appetite framework, including authority limits and portfolio controls.
• Oversee complex case adjudication, stakeholder communication and dispute resolution.
• Analyse portfolio performance metrics and drive data‑driven corrective actions.

Required profile

• First degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Law, Engineering or related field.
• 8‑10 years of progressive experience in the insurance sector, with a strong focus on underwriting and risk management.
• Proven ability to translate strategic objectives into operational underwriting plans.
• Deep knowledge of South African financial‑services legislation (FSCA, TCF, POPIA, FAIS, AML).
