About the role

An exceptional, fast-paced industrial operation in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) is urgently seeking a highly skilled, hands-on Qualified Boilermaker. The role suits a trade-tested professional with extensive experience in structural fabrication and plant and mobile equipment maintenance. Salary is commensurate with qualification and experience.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair fixed plant equipment such as conveyors, chutes, hoppers, bins, silos, crushers and structural steelwork.
• Repair and maintain mobile and transport equipment such as truck bodies, trailers, tippers and earthmoving/excavator buckets.
• Manufacture components from engineering drawings (brackets, frames, guards, platforms) and weld them to company standards.
• Carry out routine inspections, rapid fault diagnosis during breakdowns and safe emergency repairs under pressure.
• Follow the OHS Act, carry out risk assessments and manage hot work, confined space and height permits.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) and a recognised Boilermaker trade test (Red Seal).
• Valid driver's licence (minimum Code B); Code EC is advantageous.
• 3 to 5 years of post-trade experience in steel manufacturing, engineering, plant maintenance and workshop fabrication; mobile equipment experience is essential.
• Physically fit, able to lift heavy components, work at heights and in confined spaces, stand for long periods, work outdoors in all weather and work overtime or standby when required.

Required skills

• Reading engineering drawings and plate development.
• Structural fabrication and welding (MIG, stick, gouging).
• Oxy-fuel and plasma cutting, and rigging fundamentals.
• Advantageous: welding, working at heights or confined space certificates, and a forklift licence.
