Qualified Boilermaker – Cape Town

About the role

An established manufacturing operation in Cape Town is looking for an experienced Qualified Boilermaker to join its Boilershop team. This role involves hands‑on work on structural steel, fabrication and plant maintenance in a demanding industrial environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manufacture, fabricate, assemble and erect steelwork and related equipment.
• Perform day‑to‑day maintenance on machinery and equipment throughout the plant.
• Attend to mechanical and structural breakdowns as required.
• Conduct daily plant inspections as part of the maintenance programme.
• Read and interpret technical and structural drawings.
• Build and repair equipment with minimal supervision.
• Maintain good housekeeping standards in and around the Boilermaker workshop.
• Work closely with the maintenance and operational teams to support plant availability and reliability.

Required profile

• Qualified / Trade Tested Boilermaker (essential).
• 4–8 years of relevant post‑trade experience.
• Strong practical knowledge of structural steel, fabrication and assembly.
• Ability to read technical drawings and manufacture/build equipment with minimal supervision.
• Experience in an industrial, manufacturing or heavy‑engineering environment.
• Experience with an automated maintenance system.
• Valid, unendorsed driver’s licence and own reliable transport.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Practical, reliable and comfortable being hands‑on on the plant floor.
• Confident working independently while also contributing to a fast‑paced maintenance team.
