QA Technologist

About the role

The QA Technologist will join Puratos' global Quality team at the Gauteng branch, supporting food safety and quality across our manufacturing operations. Reporting to the QC/QA Manager, the role focuses on maintaining and improving the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System and ensuring daily compliance with hygiene and safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Verify daily cleaning of magnets, metal detectors and sieves, signing off each check.
• Maintain SOPs and checklists for all tasks and ensure they are up‑to‑date.
• Report food‑safety issues via daily sheets and lead weekly findings meetings.
• Raise, track and close non‑conformances, and review co‑workers’ GMP compliance.
• Manage the master cleaning schedule for all floor equipment.
• Develop, implement and continuously improve the FSSC 22000 system.
• Represent Puratos in external audits, supplier audits and internal audit programmes.
• Coordinate management reviews, staff training on food‑safety topics, and internal audit planning.
• Conduct root‑cause analysis of customer complaints, manage CAPA, and trend safety data.
• Update notice‑board policies, maintain records and perform other operational duties as required.

Required profile

• Matric (Grade 12) and a National Diploma in Food Technology or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with the MS Office suite.
