Public Health Medicine Specialist

About the role

The University of KwaZulu-Natal seeks a Public Health Medicine Specialist on a three‑year fixed‑term contract. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality teaching and contributing to the research agenda of the Department of Public Health Medicine.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and mentor undergraduate medical students, registrars, and postgraduate public health students.
• Coordinate and facilitate departmental teaching activities.
• Develop and enhance the department’s knowledge base through research and scholarly work.
• Collaborate with the Head of Department on curriculum development and program evaluation.

Required profile

• MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
• Registration as a Specialist in Public Health Medicine with the HPCSA.
• Relevant Master’s degree in Public Health Medicine.
• Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in public health.
• Strong communication skills across diverse audiences.
