Property Operations & Letting Intern

About the role

This 8‑10 month learnership offers hands‑on exposure to property operations, letting, and tenant relations within a dynamic real‑estate environment. You will work on the Johannesburg CBD site while rotating across older and newer buildings in the IPM portfolio, gaining practical experience in the full leasing cycle and building management.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to rental enquiries, conduct apartment viewings and assist with tenant applications.
• Support credit and affordability screening, and participate in Ready‑To‑Let (RTL) inspections.
• Maintain accurate records in IPM’s letting and CRM systems; shadow senior agents through lease signing and handover.
• Handle inbound tenant queries via phone, email and walk‑in, providing first‑line resolution under supervision.
• Log and track maintenance requests, coordinate with contractors, and assist Building Managers with daily inspections.
• Assist with accounts collection follow‑ups, arrears communication, and deposit reconciliation.
• Support new tenant onboarding, welcome packs, building orientation and key handover.
• Participate in outgoing inspections, deposit reconciliation documentation and RTL audit processes.

Required profile

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate (essential).
• South African citizen, currently unemployed and available to start immediately.
• Clear criminal record.
• Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and email communication.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage professionally and empathetically with tenants and stakeholders.
