Property and Leasing Head

About the role

The Property and Leasing Head will lead the management of an existing retail property portfolio, source new locations and oversee the rollout of new stores across South Africa. Reporting to the Business Unit Managing Director, the role is pivotal in ensuring timely store openings that meet brand standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the current property portfolio and negotiate lease terms with landlords.
• Identify and secure new store locations through a network of property specialists.
• Oversee shop‑fitting teams and coordinate the installation of store fixtures.
• Lead project timelines to guarantee stores open on schedule.
• Procure supplies and manage budgets for new store establishments.
• Ensure compliance with financial, legislative and corporate governance policies.

Required profile

• Business or commerce degree (or equivalent diploma).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in property and/or lease management, preferably in a retail environment.
• Proven ability to manage teams both on‑site and remotely.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation and problem‑solving capabilities.

Required skills

• Experience reviewing and interpreting lease agreements.
• Understanding of property law and related legislation.
• Project management competence.
• Knowledge of retail shop‑fitting processes.
