Project Manager – Platinum Concentrator Plant

About the role

FTCA, a leading international mining company, is seeking an experienced Project Manager (Concentrator) to lead the delivery of a major platinum concentrator plant in Zimbabwe. The role is based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, with frequent travel and extended periods on‑site in Zimbabwe during construction and commissioning. It starts as a 12‑month fixed‑term contract with strong extension potential.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of the concentrator plant from detailed engineering through construction, commissioning and operational handover.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, EPCM consultants and manage complex technical issues.
• Oversee procurement of critical long‑lead equipment, manage contractors and monitor contract performance.
• Direct construction activities, ensure compliance with standards, and resolve cost or schedule impacts.
• Develop and execute commissioning strategy, support operational readiness and transition to production.
• Monitor cost, schedule, forecasting and change control while reporting progress to executive management.
• Champion world‑class HSE performance and ensure statutory and company compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Process or Mining Engineering; PMP/PRINCE2 and ECSA registration advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years of mining project experience, including at least 5 years in project management of large‑scale concentrator or mineral processing plants.
• Proven delivery of EPCM projects exceeding US$100 million, with strong construction, commissioning and operational readiness experience.
• Extensive experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams in African mining environments.
