Project Manager - MEP / HVAC

About the role

A well‑established engineering services organisation with a strong presence in the MEP/HVAC sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Johannesburg team. The role involves full responsibility for planning, execution, financial control and successful delivery of large‑scale MEP/HVAC projects from initiation through commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria, and develop detailed project plans, schedules and milestones.
• Manage project resources, timelines, dependencies, critical paths and ensure compliance with health & safety and ISO processes.
• Monitor and control project costs, budgets and financial performance, preparing forecasts and financial reports.
• Oversee procurement of materials, equipment and services, sourcing competitively while maintaining quality and specifications.
• Manage contractual requirements, demonstrating sound knowledge of JBCC, FIDIC and NEC contracts.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal departments.
• Coach, mentor and motivate project managers, site engineers, supervisors and contractors, allocating responsibilities and ensuring accountability.
• Identify, assess and resolve project risks, issues and changes in scope, implementing contingency plans as needed.

Required profile

• 5–10 years proven project management experience within the MEP/HVAC environment, handling projects of at least R35 million.
• Strong technical knowledge of MEP and HVAC systems and solid experience in planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement and cost control.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is advantageous.
• Strategic management experience with strong commercial awareness.
