Project Manager Engineering - Oil and Gas Industries

About the role

Our client, a leading mechanical engineering firm in Cape Town, seeks an experienced Project Manager to lead oil and gas and refinery projects from quotation through to installation. The role focuses on delivering projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret client requirements and define project scope, including raw material and technical specifications.
• Obtain and negotiate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, identifying new sources when needed.
• Participate in project kick‑off meetings, evaluate quotes, and secure approvals from senior management.
• Manage purchase order receipt, verify compliance, and oversee project close‑out with final inspections and client sign‑off.
• Maintain client relationships and ensure adherence to QHSE policies and safety procedures.
• Contribute to the development of QA and safety management systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 5 years of mechanical project management experience, preferably in oil & gas or refinery environments.
• Prior exposure to offshore diamond mining projects (e.g., De Beers) is advantageous.
• Strong decision‑making, initiative, and communication skills.
