Project Finance Intern – Financial Administration & Reporting

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Project Finance Intern to support our finance team in Cape Town. You will assist with project setup, financial administration, budgeting, and reporting, gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑moving project‑finance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with project setup, maintenance, and close‑out activities while keeping accurate financial records.
• Update project budgets and forecasts, monitor financial performance against targets, and support financial planning.
• Track project revenue, costs, invoicing, and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP); prepare WIP schedules and financial reports.
• Support monthly revenue recognition, identify variances, and help monitor profitability.
• Prepare financial reports, schedules, and variance analyses using Excel.
• Gather documentation for audits and ensure records are audit‑ready.

Required profile

• Currently studying or recently completed a Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management, Management Accounting, or a related field.
• 1‑2 years of experience in a project‑related environment; exposure to project finance or accounting is advantageous.
• High attention to detail, professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and work effectively within a team.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel (basic to intermediate)
• Familiarity with ERP systems such as Odoo or Vantagepoint (or willingness to learn)
