Project Engineer I – Mining Solutions

About the role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is looking for a Project Engineer I to lead the planning, coordination and execution of complex mining system projects across South Africa. The role blends engineering expertise with project management to ensure deployments are on time, within budget and meet quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource schedules and risk mitigation strategies.
• Deploy, configure and customise mining solutions on‑site, including software support and system integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, escalating critical problems when necessary.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, sales teams and customers to ensure efficient delivery and handover.
• Produce regular status reports, document technical configurations and adhere to Hexagon documentation standards.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of current and upcoming product offerings and industry best practices.

Required profile

• Strong high‑level knowledge of mining systems and their deployment.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and organisational abilities.
• Must reside within South Africa.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Scripting tools for system customisation (e.g., Python or similar).
• Software maintenance and troubleshooting.
• System configuration and deployment of complex integrated solutions.
• Experience with on‑site installation and testing.
