Professional Nurse Specialised ICU

About the role

The Professional Nurse Specialised ICU will deliver safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care in line with the Scope of Practice. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes in the intensive care setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Essential education: Degree or Diploma in General Nursing.
• Desired education: Midwifery or postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty.
• Essential experience: None required.
• Desired experience: At least 1 year of post‑graduate qualification experience before placement in a specialised unit.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment skills.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
• Develop or modify nursing care plans.
• Relevant nursing legislation knowledge.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Risk identification.
