Professional Nurse - Medical

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse to join its multidisciplinary team. The role involves delivering safe, comprehensive nursing care in line with scope of practice regulations and contributing to a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Essential education: Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse OR 4‑year Nursing Diploma or Bachelor of Nursing.
• Desired education: Postgraduate Advanced Diploma in Midwifery; Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (e.g., Critical Care, Emergency Care, Peri‑operative Nursing) for specialist units.
• Essential experience: None required.

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) for specialised wards.
• Computer literate – proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes, procedures and record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
