Professional Nurse – IICU (Intensive Care Unit)

About the role

Mediclinic is seeking a Professional Nurse specialised in the IICU to deliver safe, comprehensive, and high‑quality nursing care. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to support critically ill patients and ensure a positive patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Midwifery qualification or postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty (desired).
• No minimum experience required; 1 year post‑graduate qualification experience in a specialised unit is desirable.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS) and knowledge of relevant nursing legislation.

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology and scientific nursing principles.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment skills.
• Nursing processes, procedures and care‑plan development.
• Computer literacy – proficient in Microsoft Office.
