Professional Nurse - General Medical Ward

About the role

The Professional Nurse will work on the General Medical Ward, delivering safe and comprehensive nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team. The role involves leading and coordinating nursing activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a positive client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in partnership with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Ensure all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing (essential).
• No prior experience required (essential).

Required skills

• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office.
• Developing and modifying nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
