Professional Nurse: Day Ward

About the role

The Professional Nurse on the Day Ward works within a multi‑professional team to deliver safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care in line with Scope of Practice regulations. The role involves leading and coordinating nursing activities to ensure optimal patient outcomes and a positive client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent, and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive client experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charted.

Required profile

• Diploma leading to registration as a General Nurse or a 4‑year Nursing Diploma/Bachelor of Nursing.
• No prior experience required.

Required skills

• Basic life support trained (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office).
• Develop and modify nursing care plans.
• Infection prevention and control.
• Nursing processes and procedures.
• Nursing record keeping.
• Patient assessment skills.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Understanding of relevant nursing legislation.
• Risk identification.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
