Professional ICU Nurse

About the role

Deliver safe, comprehensive, and quality nursing care in an ICU setting, working within the scope of practice at Mediclinic Durbanville.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality nursing care in collaboration with a multi‑professional team.
• Identify, prevent and manage risks to ensure patient safety.
• Facilitate a positive patient experience by creating a conducive environment.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all nursing interventions.
• Create a learning environment that builds staff competence.
• Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged.

Required profile

• Degree or Diploma in General Nursing (essential).
• Desirable additional qualifications: Midwifery or postgraduate certificate/diploma in a relevant specialty.
• No minimum experience required; 1 year post‑graduate qualification experience preferred for specialised unit placement.

Required skills

• Infection prevention and control.
• Pharmacology knowledge.
• Scientific nursing principles and processes.
• Nursing record keeping and patient assessment skills.
• Developing and modifying nursing care plans.
• Basic life support training (ACLS, ATLS, PALS).
• Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
