About the role

The Gauteng Provincial Administration is seeking experienced Construction Project Managers to lead multiple projects within the human settlements and built environment portfolio. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring construction initiatives to ensure they meet quality, cost, and schedule targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and monitor project implementation plans, schedules, and work plans.
• Identify resources, risks, dependencies and implement corrective actions.
• Manage day‑to‑day project aspects including scope, time, cost, quality, risk and stakeholder coordination.
• Conduct site inspections, attend technical and committee meetings, and ensure compliance with legislation, policies, norms and contract requirements.
• Oversee project financials: budgets, cash‑flow, payment certificates and compliance with PFMA and treasury rules.
• Report progress to senior management and prepare technical and management reports.
• Contribute to tender documentation, procurement planning and contract administration.
• Liaise with service providers, contractors, municipalities, clients and communities.
• Maintain accurate project records, registers and support audit readiness.
• Stay updated on new construction technologies, methods and professional standards.

Required profile

• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior project managers and related staff.
• Promote skills transfer, adherence to professional standards and sound project management practices.
• Undertake research and development activities within the built environment sector.
