Product Manager – Gas Detection Instrumentation

About the role

We are seeking a senior Product Manager to lead the portable gas detection and environmental monitoring portfolio for a leading mining technology company. The role is strategic and technical, covering the full product lifecycle from concept through market launch and post‑launch optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and drive product and market strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Analyse market trends, customer requirements and competitor offerings to define product vision.
• Translate market requirements into product specifications and development priorities.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, production and quality teams throughout product development.
• Coordinate R&D, feasibility studies, risk assessments, laboratory testing, site testing and trials.
• Manage detailed project plans, resources, budgets and milestones.
• Oversee product documentation, including designs, certifications, approvals, training material, manuals, BOMs and test results.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships across customers, internal teams and external partners.
• Develop go‑to‑market strategies covering positioning, pricing and promotional activities.
• Monitor product performance and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, business or related field.
• 10+ years of proven product management experience.
• 10+ years of experience within the mining industry.
• Deep understanding of gas detection instrumentation, environmental monitoring systems or related safety technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver complex projects.
• Strong strategic, analytical and commercial thinking.
• Proven leadership of cross‑functional teams and ownership of product success.
