Product Communication Specialist

About the role

The Product Communication Specialist will shape the image of Ford’s vehicles in South Africa by creating and executing a comprehensive product‑related communication strategy. This role leads the “From the Road” content programme, working across media, influencer and lifestyle channels to drive adoption, usage and rich content delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement end‑to‑end media management for new product launches, from pre‑launch through sustainment.
• Craft lifestyle‑driven storytelling that reinforces Ford’s brand relationship with South African consumers.
• Maintain and grow earned‑media momentum through releases, editorial and multimedia content.
• Build and nurture relationships with motoring, lifestyle and consumer media, including podcasts, forums, Reddit, Substack and club communities.
• Collaborate closely with marketing, product and corporate communications teams to deliver earned‑first campaign ideas.
• Oversee the communications test/fleet vehicle programme, measuring ROI on earned media and influencer usage.
• Partner with the Data and Insights team to produce regular performance metrics and conduct competitor analysis.

Required profile

• Proven experience in product or lifestyle communications, preferably within the automotive sector.
• Strong ability to manage multi‑channel media programmes and influencer collaborations.
• Excellent relationship‑building skills with motoring, lifestyle and consumer media outlets.
• Analytical mindset with experience measuring media performance and reporting insights.
